In the hierarchy of Hanafi texts, Al-Mabsut is categorized as a Mu'tamad (relied upon) text. It sits alongside the Hidayah of Burhan al-Din al-Marghinani as a pillar of the school. However, while the Hidayah is often used for teaching students, Al-Mabsut is utilized for conducting research and issuing complex legal verdicts ( Ifta ).
